Japanese Woodblock Workshop - June 2015

I just love teaching this class and seeing how students master the technique and unique nature of this craft. The dampness of the paper, the grain of the block, the humidity in the room...and how much caffeine/sweets have been consumed all adds character to the prints!

A very productive day in the Beginner Japanese Woodblock printing workshop recently. We made multi-colour prints using a single plate - fantastic!

Japanese Woodblock @Glee Kitchen

Friday's new all-day workshop was fuelled by delicious cupcakes and coffee at Glee Kitchen in Toa Payoh! Butterflies were the theme with participants creating beautiful and unique work. Amazing individuality shown in the prints - the result of different tracing, carving and printing styles! Looking forward to next class on 28 November! 

Initial proofing of the block to see if any small corrections are necessary. 

Final printing of the block on professional grade Japanese washi paper.
