BE INSPIRED BY SINGAPORE SHOPHOUSE TILES
Create your own shophouse tile inspired fabric artwork in an express workshop perfect for beginners and experienced creatives. Enjoy learning about the history of decorative tiles loved by Chinese Peranakans and others in Singapore and beyond.
In under three hours, you’ll make a unique artwork in my cosy studio in heartland Singapore. Learn how to create your own hand-printed table runner or decorative hanging artwork using the block printing technique. Use a range of tried-and-tested layout templates, or have a go at creating your own design. Personalise your print by choosing your favourite design from a hand-carved collection inspired by Peranakan decorative tiles.
A selection of specially-mixed textile inks is ready, and we’ll do some test prints to ensure you’ve got the hang of printing by hand. Busy creatives will appreciate our pre-hemmed cotton fabric that is ready to display straight away.
Display your print to add a Baba-Nyonya touch to your home, or gift it to someone as a special memento of Singapore.
You’ll also enjoy an introduction to Peranakan culture with its eclectic mixture of Chinese, Malay and English influences. Our special session finishes with local Peranakan sweets, cappuccino and green tea.
Come hands-free with all tools, material, supplies and aprons provided.
