Singapore’s history as a trading port and the modern nation’s four official languages are inspiration for this series. Geographical shapes are composed of major place names float amid maritime references in a study of landscape and language.

Historic voyages made on the trade winds through South East Asia are referenced in this work. Maritime voyages, land conquests and territorial chartering determined boundaries and political interests. Now easily able to be seen from an airplane, the shapes of the land are also a reminder of a sense of place, our travels and those made by people before us.
