BELGIUM DUO

from SGD 250.00

The Story

Belgium Duo was inspired by a delicate Majolica tile found around Singapore including at Nine Dragon Hall, an ancestral clan temple partly established by my great-grandfather on Cantonment Road. These early 20th century export tiles are symbolic of the region’s maritime trade routes, and were popular with Chinese Peranakans.

Hand-printing Process

This print was carefully created by hand using Japanese woodblock printing, a technique made famous for its use in Ukiyoe prints. After designing and carving multiple wooden blocks, watercolour pigments and a bamboo baren were used to print on specialist Japanese washi paper.
