Crossing Cultures Press Release here
I’m delighted to announce the upcoming opening of my new art show ‘Crossing Cultures: A Celebration of Australian-Peranakan Art’. True Blue Space on Armenian Street will host this special joint exhibition from 15 November to 31 December, 2018.
True Blue Cuisine chef and designer Benjamin Seck and I are excited to be collaborating and sharing our love for Peranakan culture. The charming ambience of the 100-year-old shophouse venue adds a perfect touch to an event showcasing our passion for our shared heritage.
I’ll feature my collection of original artwork inspired by my Peranakan heritage and exploration of local culture over the past seven years. Handmade Japanese woodblock prints created during my recent art residency in Japan will also be displayed. Peranakan tile lovers can also enjoy my interpretation of the past in my Singapore Heritage Tile series. All artworks are available for sale with art commission accepted.
Renowned Peranakan personality Baba Benjamin presents his fine hand-embroidered Kebaya blouses with their delicate designs and traditional motifs. Benjamin is the owner of award-winning restaurant True Blue Cuisine, and manager of True Blue Shoppe at the Peranakan Museum.
