Move Over Beadwork - Linocut Hits Katong!

Move over beadwork - it's time for some other creative mediums to pop up in the enclave of Katong! I recently spent some time working with a fellow printmaker on linocuts. We had a great session with some new goodies from McClains Printmaking Supplies.

Freshly pulled print and linoblock inking station. No finger prints please - we're professionals! (cough...)

Together we solved game-changing printmaking issues and tasks such as:

1. How to register different shaped blocks after they have been cut.

2. Using Caligo Safe Wash Relief Inks - and being impressed at how easily they clean up with extra virgin olive oil (might be easier on the budget to have some canola oil tucked away for such an occasion).

No press here - just muscle and a roller.

3. Trying out Akua Liquid Pigments on Japanese woodblock. A bit ho-hum for the moment but I will try experimenting more.

4. Trying out Akua Intaglio Inks. I think they may suit intaglio etching plates better than lino.

We had a great morning - just love this gorgeous building!
